Why I created From Me To You

Sometimes the most thoughtful thing you can give is a little relief.

About ten years ago, someone I loved became very sick.

I remember people saying, “Let me know if you need anything.”

They meant it. They genuinely wanted to help.

But I didn’t know how to ask.

I was spending almost every spare second at the hospital. I was getting home late, leaving early, and trying to keep going.

The ordinary things in life didn’t stop. The washing still needed doing. There were groceries to buy, meals to organise, bills and errands and a house that still needed looking after.

But I didn’t have the time for any of it.

And honestly, those things were the last things I wanted to think about. I wanted to spend whatever time I had with someone I loved, who didn’t have much time left.

Then a friend sent me an e-gift card for good-quality frozen meals.

They told me to use it to buy as much food as I needed, and hopefully I wouldn’t have to cook much.

It was such a simple thing.

A little pressure lifted.

For a moment, one of the things I had been carrying was taken off my list.

I didn’t have to think about dinner. I didn’t have to stop at the shops. I didn’t have to come home from the hospital and work out what I was going to eat or prepare.

And that small amount of relief meant I could spend more of my time and energy where I really wanted it to be — with someone I loved, who didn’t have much left.

That experience stayed with me.

It made me realise that when someone is going through something difficult, the most meaningful gift isn’t always something special or beautiful.

Sometimes it’s something incredibly ordinary.

We often say, “Let me know if you need anything.”

And we mean it.

But when someone is exhausted, grieving, caring for someone they love, sitting in a hospital, or simply trying to get through a difficult period, asking for help can be surprisingly hard.

From Me To You was created to make that easier.

To help you find something practical for someone you care about, without them having to ask.

Because sometimes the most thoughtful thing you can give someone isn’t another thing to take care of.

Sometimes love looks like dinner.
